I haven't tried OpenBSD, I used to use FreeBSD until they messed up the package manager a good few releases ago.
I switched to Debian. Life's too short. When you are in charge of a load of boxes on t'cloud you need to make life easy for yourself.

It's a hobby. My OS is Linux and always will be, but I wanted to try out something different.

I prefer the way the BSDs do things generally, but Linux is the winner can't fight that fact

old school? I probably shouldn't mention I have it load 'xclock', 'xload', and 'xkbleds' in the side panel and use xterm then.

I use a 1366x768 screened laptop, so vertical space is too valuable to waste on tasks bars, which is why I like this config with a side panel switcher
