Bill Maher -- "A Silly People" -- ?

I cannot disagree on the points Mr. Maher makes in this video, entitled New Rule: Losing to China
Food for thought

Thanks for posting that. Bill Marr will probably have to be canceled from college campuses now because that wasn't woke at all. That might just be hate speech. What he failed to say was who is causing it, and what should be done to stop it/them.

He mentioned several things that we have talked about for years. Taking 2 years to get a bus route approved. Who are the people caused that? How about if we are allowed to sue some of these special interest groups for the economic damage that they have caused to the country?

I think that he is a little rosy thinking about China. One reason that they are able to get things done is because they are not hindered by any Democratic processes.

When you are sovereign dictators, that have the power to make people disappear, or go into re education camps, you can get stuff done for a while. Just out of fear.

Also if the rest of the world lets you be exempt from environmental regulations, so that you can build as many coal fired power plants that you wish, while the rest of the world is hamstrung by climate agreements, that might help too.

For deep background, Project Gutenberg has an excellent history of China available for download. I found that learning about China's past gave me more insight into its present.

True. It isn't love it's respect and horror somewhat like the first General of a medieval style army felt when the enemy wheeled up cannon and crossbows.

Maybe "admire" is more appropriate than "love". Even in his dismissal of China's behavior, he couldn't be more specific than "camps" when describing where Uighurs are housed.

China is not a problem. One can bribe any Chines politician. It is just culture. Problem is Russia cause one can't bribe Russians. They are patriots - and want Russia to be Great. As Americans want USA to be Great. Am I missing something?

Edit: And rule the World - sorry - lead the World.

What I hear is people criticizing Bill and China and not the points he was trying to make. Am I wrong?

I see the point as, China is getting stuff done and we're not, which is putting us at a disadvantage.

The points he made weren't original. It's well known that democracies move slower compared to other types of governments.

Why he chose to describe the areas where Uighurs are kept as camps, such a neutral term, is puzzling to put things politely.

The bit about the military near the end of the clip took some guts although at least one other TV host has been far more explicit and that host was directly targeted by folks in uniform as a consequence.

Yes, I see this is about attacking Bill and not about the points he was making. The Uighurs Camp was a side thing and nothing to do do with the main subject. And that's okay, you can not like the man if you want. I think he can sometimes be a jerk. But that's kinda off topic, I think he makes a good point.

I didn't see anything about the military?

Good sci-fi reading. The only one I read out of the series was "The Broken Wheel" wrote by David Wingrove. The series name is " Chung Kuo "

Part of what tripped me out in the story line is in the future.
North Africa is turned into glass . From Nuclear Heat. Seems China
said screw it when dealing with Islam.

For puritans/moralists. I recommend not reading this series. It can get pretty nasty.

I consider Bill Mahr kinda out of touch on certain things. Been years since I paid attention to him. I like his guests though usually.

I'd really trip out if they used the series of books for a movie.

Think Game of Thrones set way into in the future from now.
