FreeBSD took years to develop their ZFS support to the level it's currently at. For Linux it has been more about licence incompatibility. It may seem rather pointless to some, but if individuals want to work on something, they're free to do so.

There is no ZFS support in OpenBSD either and won't ever be unless the licence (CDDL) changes...

FreeBSD and OpenBSD's support for NTFS and ext4 wasn't so great last time I checked...? But so long as they support the UFS/FFS variants, I couldn't really care less as I have no use for those FS (not ZFS, HAMMER nor HAMMER2 neither).

Interestingly, the CDDL also contradicts the GPL and the Lin$ux guys simply ignore that.

Meh. If one is bilingual. Why not use that talent. Linux made me bilingual. Windows just want's to keep one more mono lingual.

Dumb one down so to speak. I see this in real life in West Texas. Not just relating to operating systems.

People are losing the ability to converse in detail to describe something or give proper directions.

Instead of saying that chicken crossed the road safely.

Bad news for Lin$ux extremists: Microsoft is a Lin$ux distributor now.

Not sure how that's bad news ? It's recognition of the fact that Linux cannot be ignored as a serious contender. Why would M$ bother with something if it was no good as you claim ?? So liking Linux means you're an "extremist" ? Well, maybe I should say the same about YOU, given you just love to have a go at Linux at every chance you get, hm?

I should also say that I've used Winblow$ since 3.0 to 7/8 (with the exception of ME and 2000 to a large extent) and I've learned a LOT more about computers in general - not just OS's using Linux. I doesn't matter to me weather you believe that or not, as I even have witnesses that can vouch for that.

Well they "bother" with MS Windows and that's no good...

The keyword in that article is "Azure". Not much more needs to be said.

But I don't like to!

I don't like the average corporation or the average "law" or even thought (killers or the intolerant for thoughts sake) we could live better without, that's revolution.

They say we learn from history‽

Only so many ways we do things: "right", "wrong", reality or *blindly or\and *blissfully ...mortally...everything revolves!

At work I use window$ because I have to(*), at home Linux$ because we can.

Been a good week so far. I have not had to boot up my Windows 10 computer even once.

Microsoft has indirectly admitting that linux is better for a secure cloud-based OS with azure sphere.

They don't even trust their own window's OS for the job. LOL

YesItsMe 04-26-2018 02:03 AM

They were and still are using FreeBSD there. Because Lin$ux is far from being the obvious choice.

Really??? That's why M$'s Azure sphere OS is Linux based, and if you're going to carry on about the userland, it's still a Linux based system and NOT a Winblow$ based system. Suck on that, hehehe...

Where do they talk about M$ using FreeBSD ?? Either way... it's still NOT Winblow$, is it?

hehehehehe!

YesItsMe 04-26-2018 04:25 AM

u dumb

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/0...osoft_freebsd/

2016!
They recognized FreeBSD as a superior OS in 2016!

Even Microsoft sees that Lin$ux is only worth a thought in the aftermath - after having supported everything that's superior.

hehehehehehehe!
