Average Age of Internet Users

Without going to the site, I would guess the top of the bell would be ages 14-30, the folks who think it's cooler to text and blog, hiding behind a wall of technology, rather than to actually talk face to face.

But the Internet is full of people of all ages, from toddlers learning their ABCs, to the aged, trying to figure out what their latest disease is from their massive lists of symptoms.

sorry to disappoint you SlowCoder , it seems that your initial guess of 14 to 30 has missed the current accounted average :D

the net is full of surprises , isn't it ?!

HeHe...The average age stated on there is 34...However their number of unique samples as of a minute ago was..21...Margin of error anyone?

H_TeXMeX_H 02-20-2009 11:07 AM

I'm hoping they'll put a standard deviation on there sometime, it may be useful.

How about a lot useful? All they're doing is averaging out the ages of all users. How about a tally by age, too, and even regional locales?

Well in another older survey in the UK , it turned out that the average was around 37 .

basically quite close to this figure .

However ,

still more ppl needed to get the thing done right :D

Cheers

Perhaps, but my 2 and 7 year olds aren't going to know or care to fill out that information. So where do they sit on the bell curve?

Are your 2 and 7 year old children using the internet ?
if so then they have the chance to covered just like any one else.

maybe forwarding the link to the nursery would help :D

I say we correct it, put in about 100 x age 2 in there.

Yes, they are. There is a lot of educational content out there for their age groups. Really amazing, actually. :)

Indeed , I don't have children myself but my friend has a 5(i think maybe 6) year old daughter whom masters the computer almost better than her father :p

and constantly surfing the net , i dunnu how many 'barbie sites' and the like she checks out everyday.

Seriously btw , if you know any webmasters of children websites , just
given them the link to it . :)

That's a bad bad idea :tisk:

doing so means that you're literally 2 years old HAHA :D

just be honest man.

btw , I see that the average is getting fixed around 30 years.

who would like to bet with me how the average is gonna turn out ?

I'd say the ....hmm....the average is gonna drop to the 20's

Cheers

Well i think that's true because your range is probably lil bit too wide?!
it's like saying that car driver are mostly from 18 to 50 years old :p

you should fix yourself on 1 year or at a max range of 5 years ;)

Self reported ages by a non-random selection process is pretty worthless data anyway.
