ATA Hard Drive Preference

You've decided to purchase a new hard drive. Based on both 1st hand experience & word of mouth which brand will you be most interested in?

Thumbs up

Quantum, I've been thrashin' it for the past 2 1/2 years straight and it's still going sweetly.

Sorry, but 'it's all about the £'. I've used various different makes, and don't really find that for a home user there is much to compare. Sure for a high-end user I'm sure there would be some sort of preference, but I'm interested in Gb/£.

I go with Maxtor usually, but I have heard Western Digital is just as reliable.

Maxtor for me

Over the past 2 years I have put new HD's in 5 machines. I used 4 Maxtor's and 1 WD. As it turns out, the WD crashed, so I replaced it with a Maxtor. My vote is for Maxtor.

I've used them all in the past and never found any to be less than good. But SCSI is the way for sure I was an IDE man until recently, My U160 drive (which is a maxtor BTW) absolutily flies.

hey now, we don't need to start any controversy here. any member is allowed to have whatever they want as their signature, unless its offending others which isn't tolerated. if you want to have links to other sites, great, if not great too, no need to be bashing or accusing others of what they want to display as their signature.
thanks and lets keep it clean.

I am sorry, but this is a little bit too much for my personal taste - which is kind of screwed up - but it looks to me that when the signature is actually bigger than the reply -plus in red -plus leading to a purely commercial webpage you should be able to ask a question at least.
So your reply is a spam
Don't worry - I am out of here
