Artificial baby? I find this creepy.

I've just been perusing an ad for a doll which is designed to be as realistic a portrayal of a newborn baby as possible. It's the right size and weight, has the correct skin texture and is even battery-powered so that it breathes and has a heartbeat.

Now what sort of person would want a doll like that? I can only assume that it's some kind of creepy therapy for a woman who can't conceive or has recently had a miscarriage. Or more likely a way of exploiting the misery of such women for financial profit.

Baby simulator? Aren't they supposed to teach teenagers how difficult it is to care for a baby and reduce teenage pregnancies?

Apparently not.

child care classes would for the promiscuous, forgot to keep there panties on "under age" girls.

I've observed such things being used for the purpose michaelk stated: A 12-year-old girl having to care for one of those dolls.

i find the zombie babies on cigarette packs very, very creepy.
is it like that?

anyhow, you should see a five-year old when they're finally allowed to hold their newborn sibling! much better than a doll.
so careful, awed. even if they usually break all their toys.

Some people do find reborn dolls creepy.

They are not intended as toys, but as tributes to stillborn infants or infants who died of SIDS and as comfort objects for their bereaved parents.

It's an art form and intended to look as realistic and as much like the individual departed as possible.

To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, that's not creepy. This is creepy.

I recently got one of those free mail order leaflets which was full of sex toys, including a few of these realistic dolls. You're right, they are creepy. And I wonder why a man would want to use one when doing so amounts to an admission that he can't make it with a real woman.

The male ego is a weird beast!

unless you ordered from them, i don't see how that can happen.

Channel 4 did a documentary on those sex dolls a while ago. One man took his for walks in a wheelchair. People are strange...

I did once order a set of erasable ballpoint pens from the same company. They came with a free battery-operated carriage clock and I thought the combination was worth what I paid for it. But the pens didn't erase properly and the clock didn't work. Since then, I haven't ordered anything more but they have frequently sent me catalogues.

No, of course not, silly! These were dolls that resembled adult women.

brianL 10-09-2018 03:37 PM

I'll get one of those sex dolls when they can cook and do housework.

I have gotten such catalogs without ever having heard of the "vendor" before. It's only happened once or twice, but it has happened.

...

We have those stickers here too (in Australia that is), but it doesn't mean people won't rip them off of your mailbox or ignore them altogether...
