I am forced to use Windows at work because &**^%$# Lotus Notes doesn't have a Linux client >:(
But I did set up my machine to dual-boot for when I want to get something done quick at the command line like resizing a directory of images |

I haven't booted windows since I got an external modem (in dec 04). I just love Linux, I just couldn't go back to windows. If I have to use windows (to fix my dad's comp, or at uni to see some lecture notes that can only be rendered in IE) it feels so restrictive, and I find it so ugly and I don't just mean the graphical interface.

No windows at home (3 PC) since 1999.

I *have* to use Windows at work - no option there. But my computer at home has been Windows-free for over a year, now.

But why Linux can not change it out? |

Why's it have to be such an issue to just post suggestions instead of pulling apart my words? |

The place I work decreed years ago that Windows will be the only platform used. (An exception is made for some very intensive applications that run on Solaris 8 boxes - but they do not have any connections outside the building.) We can use only the sofware they provide, and cannot even download newer versions, let alone any other software. We have no access to our hard drives, or to the CDROM, or to the floppy drive, or to the USB ports, etc. There are days I am just glad to have internet access at all! We run Windows 2000 Pro, and will probably never go to XP. Linux doesn't have a chance here, for several years. (Although maybe with Solaris, we can nudge them in the right direction. ;)) |
Sorry, I mean replace :-\
It would be excellent, if such corporations used linux as major OS :-D |
