I can't remember the last time I've had less than 100 tabs open in Firefox. I'm not really sure why I leave tabs open instead of using bookmarks. As I type this, I have 357 tabs open!

I may have a problem...

Seldom more than five or six tabs open simultaneously here.

I hate having too many tabs open, except when I am working translating documents, in which case I may have more than 20 tabs open. (I still hate it, but must do it when I'm translating).

I think I have about 60 open right now but I have had 200+ open at one point.

I also am addicted to Ctrl+Shift+E function that allows grouping of open tabs.

Rarely more then 10, usually 2 to 5. I use Firefox for the Pentadactyl plugin and sadly Firefox isn't really fast to begin with. I don't see the point in slowing it down even more with having a large number of tabs open. Pentadactyl's tags option for bookmarks makes it particularly easy to organize bookmarks, so for me there is no advantage to leave a large number of tabs open.

This is one of those mysteries to me: 200 tabs? Why? How?

I've got 4 open at the moment. If I wanted to check something on another site to answer a question, this might give me another 1 or 2. I might occasionally get more open when comparing books at Amazon, but usually I'd have less.

Actually I had changed something in about:config so that FF is supposed to unload tabs from memory that haven't been used for a while. But even with only a tab or 2 open, FF will suck down resources if left open long enough (> 2 weeks)

It's usually because I get side tracked, and leave tabs open for later. And having two kids, I get side tracked a lot.

Before the use of tabs, the only option was multiple windows. I never liked having more than two windows open.

I can't imagine having 1-3 tabs open. I often keep many tabs open and switch between them as I do different things.
I do tend to lose my place and open duplicate tabs which adds to the count. Every week or two, I go through the list and
close duplicates and crap I don't need anymore. I would say, I rarely have less than 6-8 "active use tabs". That is tabs that I have
used recently and will likely go back to.

I use tab groups and pinned tabs to keep tabs organized. Even then, I try to clear them out when I get too much going on.
