AOL commercials -- full of crap?

You know, I am getting sick of seeing these stupid AOL commercials. Granted, their software MIGHT provide some minimal amount of protection for a user, but it is such an incredibly bloated resource hog I cannot imagine people actually using it.

And speaking of their protection, I saw a user's machine that was fairly new, had AOL 9.0 "Security Edition" installed and it was one of the most infection systems I've ever seen. Tons of spyware as well as viruses! Granted, no software will protect a complete idiot...

Speaking from experience (I used AOL for almost 3 years) the commercials are complete BS. Every time I see them I roll my eyes and change the channel. :D

No doubt those AOL commercial give new bounds to the idea, "total BS". Like so many advertisers, politicians and others, once they hear of a concern or something on the minds of the viewer, they are quick to load up their rhetoric with soothing language, even when there is no basis in reality for it.

Every car seems to be "good on gas" these days. Citibank cares about everyone's credit score, etc.

AOL sucks big time. It's almost like a spyware magnet. The type of spyware that puts your computer 8 seconds behind you nomatter what you're doing. I get a kick out of it.

Everyone I know who uses it are slowly moving to Verizon because of the new price ($15 a month).

AOL appeals to a segment that it serves well. One might say that they deserve each other.
In your face advertising---maybe a sign of panic. AOL is losing market share.

My cousins checking account was overcharged $1,200.00 in six months by AOL. The women at my bank tell of AOL deducting their monthly fee every week from people who have to cancel their bank accounts to stop it. The people at AOL should all be locked up in prison. It is a sign of the very dismal state of America that the corporations and the government are under the spell of corruption.

My complaint with the AOL commercials is that they are mathematically inaccurate. To quote verbatim, the ads make the claim that viruses/trojans can slow down your system by "500%". Sorry AOL, that's impossible - once you slow something down by 100%, it's no longer moving. I realize that you probably meant to say that download speed and/or overall performance would take "5 times longer" than it otherwise would, but once the speed equals zero, you cannot "slow it down" anymore

Consider their target audience....

Time Warp

I guess you don't know that the engineers at AOL have figured out how to make time run in reverse. So their claim is not untrue; "!tsaf yllaer sdrawkcab gniog s'tI"
