Anything like xbindkeys to Windows XP?
Hi all!

I'm looking for a program for Windows XP which works similar to xbindkeys. I remember using a program for Windows a while ago that gave me a similar functionality of xbindkeys, but I can't remember its name :(.

For you, not familiar with xbindkeys, I'm looking for a program for Windows which allows me to create custom shortcuts to start some applications (for example, I'd like to start firefox with CTRL + ALT + 1), volume control and even minimize windows(eg: CTRL + F9).

Free and or Open Source is good, but it does not need to be ^_^. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

P.S: I'm aware that if you right-click on a executable under Windows, you can create custom shortcuts, but I never got it to work and it would still not be enough for me, since I want also to have control over opened windows and multimedia (I'm not using a multimedia keyboard, nor I want one ^_^).

Is that what thou seeketh, friend?

Awesome Harishankar!. Thanks a bunch mate. Not only for this reply, but you always post useful stuff in this forum, so thanks for that too ^_^.

I've loved the little application: Free and light-weight, two things hard to find in one program and for Windows nowadays. I can't figure a way to control the volume through it, but it is already more than good enough for me ^_^

Thanks again!

No problem, mega man X. I searched for "hotkey apps for Windows". If you use the keyword "shortcut" it has other meanings like the little desktop icons so the search is wider.

hmm ... weird ... Mega , why not write you own utility for that ...

Thanks for the reply :). I thought about it, but I'm such a crappy coder. My strength lies with Java and Java would be a bit overkill for that I think ^_^.

either delphi or vb and the likes will do ... there are lots of ready snippets parts/hints/clues on the net i think ... just for your own use only ...
