anybody play on xbox live?
 

i started recently and thought it would be kinda neat if someone else here plays something like ghost recon we could have a little lqo get together and kick some butt or something.

too expensive. I stick to Counter-Strike and Team Fortress on the PC :D

whitehat- to expenisve for what part? the live part is $50 for a year. the system is a touch high but goes cheaper on ebay and the games are pretty cheap on ebay as well.
i know its still a little bit of money but for a hobby like video games i always find a way. video games and r/c flying.

that's about 4.16 a month to play online. that's enuff to make me never buy an XBox. i didnt know it was 50 bucks a year, that means im for sure gonna get me a PS2 now. Screw xbox. I'm with whitehat, i'll use my exisiting internet connection to play Counter Strike....no need to pay an extra 4 bucks a month to play games on a different computer(xbox).

i guess i should add that with that $50 youre also getting the head set and a tetris game. i really dont think its a bad deal.
ps2? it alwasy bothers me greatly when a company sells a inferior product but due to there marketing end up with a bigger share of the sales. sounds sorta familiar....

Only thing an XBox is useful for, is hacking it to run linux.

no, thats not the only thing its usefull for.
thats cool if nobody uses the xbox here, but i just wish you would post nothing then rather than posting negatives. i never asked what is an xbox good for or what do you think about xbox prices.

I am not a big gamer, but my friend donated an XBox to me and previous to that I bought a PS2

I also have Live hooked up for both machines, but admittedly I play PS2 more often than XBox.

Both are fine game consoles.

It's too expensive because you have to pay Microsoft to play (on top of already having broadband).

That's a rip. I'll just pay for my broadband and play Counter-Strike for free.

Isn't it bad enough that MS rips you off for the XBOX, and then the games, and also to play online?

I owned an XBOX for about 3 months, hated it.....then sold it on ebay :D

microsoft loses approx. $100 on every xbox it sells, not ripping you there. all comercial software is expensive but the games are cheap on ebay or used game stores, no rip there. and like i said the the $50 for a year of live is also a game of tetris and the voice headset, no rip there.IMNSHO

I can build a PC and have internet access and play FPS games with a KB and Mouse better, and also pay the same or less for games, and have a Box that does many things.....and I don't have to pay to play.....

People raved so much on how good HALO looked.....and it don't look as good as some of the PC games I've played. XBOX is already obselete :) IMHO.

Then I thought HALO 2 was supposed to look real good. It looks the same as HALO but some different levels and guns and such. What a waste :)

console style game looks will never compare to pc games simply because televisions are of almost barbaric resolutions.
hdtv would help some i imagine as some but not all xbox games have high definition resolution built in. i enjoy playing pc games as well but my pc is old and slow. i could not build or buy a pc that is capable of frame rates needed for games for what i have into my xbox system including live. sound is one area that console games surpass pc's. if you get the advanced conector for the xbox you can hook up an optical cable for 5.1 digital sound. nothing has impressed me as much as that. imagine someone shooting at you from your left rear and hearing it come from there. you dont have to look around for the person cause you hear exactly where they are. total cool.
so i know that console games have crippled controls and substandard grapghics, but the sound is good and i dont have a 36" monitor and overall its cheaper than playing on a pc.

and if you really dont want to pay for live you can play over the internet for free with the help of some software. the software is only for windows though and that suucks. but you can play games like halo and thats cool.

Personally, I use a Nintendo Gamecube. PS2 is a little bit better, though, but I don't care for Xbox. Why have M$ invade your life more, when your trying to get rid of them on your computer? It's a matter of taste, and Xbox has great graphics, and crisp sound, but I don't care for M$, and I've seen it lock up more than once.

I have heard others complain about their XBox freezing or doing some other abnormal thing, but the times I haveplayed I have never had an issue. Neither has any of my boytoys had an issue.

Maybe I got a lemon :)

Plus..... XBOX is loud compaired to PS2.

I'm getting so tired of everything having so much processor that it needs cooled with hardcore stuff.

I love the old days of just tall heatsyncs with nothing else but a power supply fan ;)
