any MAC users out there to help with RDP server for an iMAC?

I know this is a linux site, but the apple/support site is not helping as they keep pointing me to VNC and VNC does just like in windows for OSx. it does a desktop takeover. i need something more like what VNC does in linux, or what TS (terminal service) does for win2k/2k3 server does in windows.

i need a clean new desktop so i can log out without having to worry about system resources running 24/7 on a user that is only used a few hours every day, but one that i do need access to 24/7/365.

thanks if any one here can help point me in a direction other then a desktop take over software like VNC.
