any legal music download websites for linux?

I am a newbie to linux, but with the help from the 900+ page book that came with the software, I can manage linux fairly well.

My question is: Does anyone know of a website I can go to for the purchase of music downloads? I have no problem paying for the music I want, however I want it to be from a site that has today's popular music.

If anyone knows of any legal sites where I can purchase music downloads, I would be a happy camper. (And I wouldn't have to use a friends windoz box to download and burn from Wal-Mart anymore.)

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

The only one I use is eMusic.com. It has mostly small labels, none of the really big names (but you tend to find smaller groups that are really good). There is a lot of music and it's cheap. You can also set it up so you can download straight from their website, no software needed, and you download the music in high quality mp3s.

http://allofmp3.com The site is based out of Russia, but it is completely legal there. Not so sure about the USA but I us it? When you first go to the site it is in Russian, but if you look at the upper left there is a link to make the entire site in English. Not to mention downloads are really cheap, you pay for bandwidth not individual tracks or albums.

Let me know what you think.

i recommend allofmp3 too. and i think it is "technically" legal. there is no law against it.

All I have to say is that $10 US goes a long way on allofmp3.com
