any cat people here ? one crazy cat s/woman/man/g here.

i decided to buy a cat (like half a year ago) , got lucky on gambling, and had about 1k € to spend, bought all cat things and sat down and asked myself "do i want to take care of an animal for the next 10-20 years".

answer was : yea :P

notes to myself:
Quote:

coding is next to impossible, kitten on a keyboard.

cat jumps/drops from computer desk : hits extension cords power switch when it lands. it takes 20 minutes to get computers back online.

3am-5am , you wake up and your cat sits on your chest, staring at you, "more food" expression on its face.

using the history(1) command, it is filled with gobbledygook, reminds me about coding while drunk, but the cat is sober, i think, not 100 percent sure.

likes salmon, tuna and shrimps. doesn't eat alascan cod.

the cat stalks you ... ( because you wear a hoodie and have strings swinging from your neck ) ... and jumps from full speed onto your chest, hanging there with its claws.

Sorry, can't type much right now. Have a cat between me and keyboard. ;)

No I'm a dog person. Cats hate me.

My cat, the one who used to sit on my mouse (then make her way to my lap purr-begging to be petted), died a few years ago (sniff). Haven't had the heart to replace her.
Disrupting my typing was, indeed, her mission in life, but I miss her.

I have one who carefully avoids typing, but another who left me a cute poem the other day:
öööööööööööööööööööö

Yeah, my family has a cat. We've had him since he was a kitten, about 2 months old or maybe a bit younger. He's 12 years old now, but still seems healthy. As cats go, he's got a strong personality. I hope he'll survive for a good number of years yet.

My wife and I have been involved in animal rescue – we're a stepping-stone between an animal shelter and a pet store – for half-a-dozen years now. So, yeah, there are rather a lot of cats here on most days.

Of course, officially we are "fostering" them. However, this brings up the issue of "foster failure ..."

Alas, we're just about at "that time of the rolling year" when Christmas-gift kittens aren't going to be quite-so-cute anymore as they grow into "lanky teenagers," and they get dropped-off en masse at animal shelters. (And so, the well-oiled "rescue machinery" cranks into action for yet another year ...)

Dogs have masters, cats have slaves.
or
Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

I am a slave...

I have 5 dogs and 1 cat. The dogs teach the cat how to be a dog. It comes when called. It is very smart and sociable.

Got a bunch of cats. I've raised cats all my life. Got a Black Lab that is protective of the cats, too, in the unlikely event they need help.

LOL thank you for that laugh

PS: I am a dog and bird guy.....although, I now prefer seeing birds in the wild rather then a cage.

PSS: There was a stray cat where I once worked that used to leave gifts of dead mice right in front of my office door (outside door). I researched why cats do this, apparently he was acknowledging I was top cat/dog and was offering me the "kill"... felt strangely good. damn, now I miss that cat.

Throughout my life, starting at around age 4, I've always had both dogs and cats. I have a deep memory of an experience at 4 where I came out onto our porch and witnessed my dog chasing my cat around the corner of our house and moments later appearing at the other corner apparently circumnavigating the house. On the 3rd or 4th time they stopped right in front of me and both did 180s and my cat chased my dog a few times around and then they switched again. They kept this up for at least 4 switches and then both fell in a heap and laid around each other in the front yard. I love both cats and dogs equally but quite differently.
