Anil Dash's 10 Rules of Internet

Found this via Boing Boing... I'm sure many here at LQ will appreciate it.

When a company or industry is facing changes to its business due to technology, it will argue against the need for change based on the moral importance of its work, rather than trying to understand the social underpinnings.
I don't get the reference.

Hi,

Yeah that one is a little weird. It would smell like the music and film industries if not for the use of the word "moral".

Actually, the music and movie industry do use what they consider a "moral" argument. They just call it something else: "intellectual property," which implies that obtaining it without paying the tariff is theft.

It may be "property," but, in most cases, it most certainly is not "intellectual."

Sounds like he has spent time at the General section of LQ.
