I'm watching The Man in the High Castle.
There are 4 seasons (there won't be any other a priori) and I'm literaly addicted.
Directing, acting, music, clothing and scenery are so great!
It's an uchronia/alternate history where Allies lost WWII so world is headed by Germany and Japan which have shared the regions out. It's really freaking (=disturbing). Definitely not recommended for everyone, especially youngsters.

Judging by the reviews, Cats is not a movie to mention in this thread, which, of course, is why I mention it, he said perversely.

Apparently, it is CGI at its most extravagant worst. T. S. Eliot (one of my favorite poets, by the by) must be rotating in his grave.

My friend wanted to see it, but then, thank heavens, she read the review.

If you are a mystery buff and an Agatha Christie fan, as I am, you might like Agatha and the Truth of Murder, which is available on Netflix. It attempts to fill in, quite fictionally, where Agatha Christie may have been during the weeks in which she disappeared in 1926 as her first marriage was crumbling.

Togo from Ericson Core with Willem Dafoe.
8.2/10 on IMDB.
It's based on a true moving story.
Quote:
The story of the sled dog, Togo, who led the 1925 serum run, but was considered by most to be too small and weak to lead such an intense race.

Depends on what you like. I like documentaries about biosphere, space, current events, history...
I like to save them so I can watch them again later.

From my logs, Here are a few from this year that were informative. Not an exhaustive list, just a few.

I checked. Those are all still there on AWS.
Those are transport streams, I'd run them through ffmpeg and make a .mp4 out of them. Or just watch the playlist with your favorite media player.
Code:
ffmpeg -i file.ts -c:a copy -c:v copy file.mp4

I'm quite fond of good Science Fiction. I don't mean the pedestrian alien apocalyptic monsters or space opera, but the very few that explore big concepts. Star Wars was entertaining, or some episodes were, but Star Trek, especially The Next Generation was far more to my tastes because it's human and aspires to dream big about big obstacles external and internal and yeah, cool gadgetry

Another important element as in any genre and also in Sci Fi is character development. Star Trek original wouldn't have been compelling without James T. Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Uhura and Bones and that reached a climax of integration of story and character in TNG.

The Amazon original series The Expanse starts as a great story and has a wide variety of very well developed characters and is worthy of binge watching. Even though the final season story line "runs out of gas" it is still good just because of the great characters. I think this is often the case when a great ensemble cast carries the story.

Much harder are simpler stories with few characters. For me Interstellar was very good for a compelling story with a small cast that touched a few big concepts but I thought the ending was a bit weak if emotionally potent.

I just finished watching Passengers for a second time and I found it way more compelling the second time though it's impact was really big even the first viewing. It takes place in the very far future yet there is very little need for suspension of disbelief as all the Science just makes sense and feels right. Some details are exquisitely developedbut the main power of the story is involved in just two people. Romance is involved but it includes struggle and the biggest stories humans deal with - principles, morality, love, death and the meaning in finite lives. It's very big, very personal, and yeah it has really cool gadgetry and it's really good if you like such fare

^ fully agree on Star Trek & Expanse.
Might need to rewatch the latter (I watched Star Trek TNG already 3 times or so).

I finished binge-watching Euphoria. It's a really good and atypical high school series, talented actors, and very little of it shot inside the high school (in other words, there was a real budget). People said it has some sort of biting humour, but I found it to be very emotional and serious most of the time (a few good LOLs nevertheless).
Not in my Top Ten, but definitely worth mentioning.

I saw the Irishman, it was OK.

However, I still find Goodfellas better. Just my opinion.
