Captain Fantastic

Saw it yesterday evening with my wife (who insisted) in a local cinema. Now I insist. If you live in the US, watch it quickly; you never know.

Sing was ... well ... "predictable fun." Just in time for Christmas. (Although not a per se (thank God ...) "Christmas" movie.)

It's an animated film that doesn't (thank God ...) indulge in "bug-eyed slapstick [tired old ...] comedy." No, it has a reasonably well thought-out plot, and a very nice cross-section of well-produced music. (Including a few less well known verses of Hallelujah sung by an elephant a very talented performer.)

Open your eyes and enjoy the show, or close your eyes and listen to a very pleasing selection of music while munching popcorn in the dark with your sweetie. Aye, "not a totally-bad way to spend a Christmas afternoon . . ."

Hang around for the entire credits-roll (as I routinely do ...), and be astonished at the number of songs in the list, many of which perhaps you didn't even notice. (Not to mention a very fine score which necessarily embraces it all.)

I'm sure it's been mentioned already, but as I type this Major 'King' Kong is just getting ready to ride the bomb in Dr. Strangelove. I dunno how many times I've watched Dr. Strangelove and always enjoy it, if nothing else the character names are great: 'Buck' Turgidson, 'Bat' Guano, Jack D. Ripper, 'King' Kong, and way before Darth Vader, James Earl Jones as Lt. Lothar Zogg

I'll probably go watch the just released movie, "Hidden Figures". I'm not sure why it was kept a secret all this time, but at least it's not hidden anymore. The one of the three persons it's based on is still living and she's 98 yrs. old!

I'm just doing mindless manga viewing with my new free crunchyroll account. I am not going premium because I am a cheap sob who only spends money mostly on motorcycle parts.

My latest fix from crunchyroll is coming in as

Death Note

You know. Saturday morning cartoons since it is freaking cold outside.

Edit: Nice thing is. It works on my Samsung S7 Phone also.
