I'm watching into the 'Chernobyl' thing. The acting, development are all good. It's heavy going.

There's the 'Oppressive Evil Establishment' as one constant thread throught, as with a lot of Russian things. Then there's the awful events. I lived through the Chernobyl events, and it was very bad. We got the occasional optimistic press release, and they gradually got more real very late in the day iirc. There was carnage. The series gives you a 'warts and all' look at it, how cheap life was, and the suffering of indiividuals the Politburo considered expendable. A detailed explanation of the incredible sufferings involved in radiation sickness, followed by graphic special effects of people dying, etc.

Definitely a 'must-watch' if you're in a nuclear reactor, or doing appropriate research. If you're an ordinary guy looking for entertainment

Rouge (胭脂扣), from 1987 by Stanley Kwan.

F-rated, according the IMDB, and there are no content advisories. There are way too many spoilers in the Wikipedia summary and also more than a little too much given away in the IMDB summary. In short, a smartly dressed but out of style young woman shows up in a Hong Kong newspaper office in search of her missing lover. There are more than enough clues given as the story progresses.

Highly acclaimed at the time.

I can't say I've heard of apple TV, I'm not in that bubble.
Whilst I won't be peeling off my ibad stickers,
I may need to expand my search past prime*?&see...

I liked: Dan Vs., an American Flash animated television series created by Dan Mandel and Chris Pearson.

Finished Chernobyl on Saturday.

It's good and it's worth it, especially if you remember the events. The first episode begins with the explosion, the last provides the why. I'd say watch the opening 10-15 minutes very carefully, because it's all explained later. The first two episodes are full of heart-jerking moments - Emotional wife meets dying husband fatally damaged by radiation sickness. These go on too long for me unless you want major depression, so I'd advise fast forward 5 minutes once you know what's going on.

Episodes 3-5 can be watched in full. They are throwing names around all the time, and tell about them at the end. I'd advise binging on it, because unanswered questions of one episode may be answered in later ones. It helps if you remember the cold war, or have any knowledge of Cold War Russia.

I've started on Outlander. They didn't really do their research. A certain suspension of disbelief is required, particular if you're live near Scotland, which I do. For instance, they show you the outside of a castle, but it must have been built like Dr. Who's Tardis - tiny outside, vast inside. The show might be OK in the Excited States where the issues don't jar. It may improve on me. I haven't seen enough yet.
