So it's ok to call what "conspiration theorists'" say "horse manure" ? That's sounds to me like your calling them "stupid" and/or that what they say is just rubbish;
I could say that's insulting to "conspiration theorists". I could also say the same about a number of your other posts... should I report them ?
You've also defaced my username a number of times in a number of posts - which I have reported and further such posts will also be reported.
I wouldn't call the kettle black if I were you ondoho.
Just sayin'
you do understand that you are getting personal "in the name of the law" here, yes?
you are getting involved in something that doesn't concern you directly at all, but the only arguments you bring up are against me personally, and have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I'm sorry, no! Amish, or anyone else who chooses to believe, or disbelieve in anything is not "a minority".
If a person chooses to be part of a religion that is their choice and something they can control. Unless, of course, you're suggesting that the Amish are some kind of brainwashed cult who can't think for themselves? In which case, even more reason for criticism.

hold your horses.
the sole point is that i misunderstood the meaning of syg00's post (or so i think; their only clarification so far was 'huh?').
i don't know much about the amish, but i do believe it is a sort of christian religion (i believe this is called a "church", or even a "sect", but without the negative connotations), and the majority of US americans are NOT amish?
calling something/someone a minority is not an insult, it's a simple statement of fact.
if i did get the facts wrong, i do apologise.

Your original reading supposes we're discussing the Amish guy suing Uber for... something? That's pretty absurd, and obviously not what syg00 meant.

I think what 273 is trying to get at, is that religion is a concious choice (unlike skin colour), so it shouldn't be off-side to criticize everyone who chooses a particular religion.

I think the reality is a bit fuzzier than this black & white, brainwashed vs choice situation you are presenting. But perhaps we should continue the discussion in the religion thread?

You understood my point, thank you. I'll not post any more as I realise it's off topic and I've managed to explain myself.
Dear members,
Misunderstandings can happen. However, we have our rules and everyone should follow them. The rules include:
Quote:
Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated.
Do not post if you do not have anything constructive to say in the post.
Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully ... without insult and personal attack. Differing opinions is one of the things that make this site great

no, that's not what my original reading supposes, and therefore it is not absurd.
it was a simple misreading/misunderstanding; please scroll back and read again all the helpful replies that followed.
syg00 has chosen not to react so far, so we won't be able to ascertain what their original meaning was, but my guess is that i simply misunderstood.
the rest of your & 273's reasoning is beyond me; saying "religious minority" is not demeaning or insulting or discriminating or even "politically incorrect" in any way.
now before this thread gets merged into the religion mega thread, i will just shut up.
