Americans Don't Trust the media

Americans Don't Trust the disgraced political action group media and their political operatives. And their opinion of the US congress is even lower.

When you folks from outside the US hear "US" news from the long time established "news" outlets, you're not getting news. You're getting a slanted, edited, spun, and even fabricated account of events with an open political bias. Something to keep in mind.

I don't even watch TV news, or much TV at all. I stopped watching TV news soon after 9/11, for obvious reasons.

Kinda a catch-22 thing using the gallup site to show news is not trusted.

Here in the US. I find that age group, income, race, social standing. All of these play into whether they believe the cable news or not.
Me, If it is corporate or govt sponsored. That kills it for me. Link TV can be tiresome sometimes though also.

PBS and it's corporate donors are sadly disappointing lately.

But then, nobody guaranteed me the world would be fair and balanced (what a crock)

No, certainly not, good answer.
It becomes a problem though when parts of a population believe the propaganda that is being disseminated. It can turn the entire course of a nation, as we have seen with regimes in times past, and that is the entire purpose of it. To sway public thinking to their (joke media's) ideology.

You and I may think of a reporter and a news agency as someone who stands on the sidewalk, watches what happens, then reports it for those of us who were not there to see it happen ourselves. But that it not their purpose. They could not care less if they are factual or not, as attested to be the multiple false stories they have been caught presenting in the last 30 years. Their purpose is to sway public thinking and make add revenue.

Weird since this thread was brought up.

In reporting stints in Baghdad, Washington and Kabul, Hastings rejected the cozy-access reporting favored by some of his colleagues in favor of bare-knuckle truth-telling that sometimes rubbed his peers and subjects the wrong way.

His 2010 Rolling Stone profile of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, "The Runaway General," exposed the general and his staff's disdain for their superiors, including National Security Advisor James L. Jones, Vice President Joe Biden and President Obama.

Hastings won the prestigious George Polk Award for magazine reporting and later wrote a book about McChrystal and his time in the war zone: "The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America's War in Afghanistan."
In a 2010 interview with the L.A. Times, Hastings said he admired "writers who live their lives with integrity and without compromise." He even identified McChrystal as a kindred spirit, someone who also liked to stick it to "The Man."
Like I said. Weird.

Look at the US and British press reports on Syria, and compare them to the continental ones. Do the English-language sources tell you that Syria has no sharia law and is one of the few Muslim countries safe for Christians? Do they tell you that when the insurgents took Homs, they drove out the Christians and desecrated the churches? The English-language media take their line from the governments, and the supposedly Christian Obama and Cameron are more concerned with the needs of the Saudis and Israelis.

There are no "trusted" news outlets. I have lived in and visited many countries. All news is faulty.

Why would anyone from any place trust a news outlet?

Sadly I think many people in the world believe the news.

If you want a treat, listen to the voice of North Korea.
