American Working in Holland

I started to apply for jobs outside the U.S. because I would love to live in a different country for a while. I have been in FL now for many years and while I have an amazing position with my company, I would love to travel. I had a really good job interview with a company in Amsterdam and would like to know what does someone need to do in order to legally work in the Netherlands? Is there a work visa that I can apply for? Does anyone know how this works?

You need a Working permit and a Permit to stay for a longer time in the Netherlands .
Because you do not come as a tourist.
How easy it is to get it depends on you're skills.
If you have knowledge with we need in the Netherlands than it not so difficult to get it.
The company in Amsterdam should know what they have to do get you over in the Netherlands .

My only concern now is if I can legally bring my dog into the country. I was told that Holland has a ban against my breed. I do see many of them there when I visit so I don't understand the law fully yet. I wont leave my dog so I will have to find a way to see how I can bring my best friend.

I changed my name in honor of my family and personal reasons. I work for the U.S DoD so I would think there is little to hide from when you have clearance...

Hi,

@carlosinfl: You don't mention the specific breed of dog you have....

@smeezekitty: I hope it is just me, but that reads as "what are you guilty of". There are plenty none "criminal" reasons to want to leave a family/city/country. But like I said, hopefully it's just me.

And besides that, it is probably none of our business

EDIT: carlosinfl replied while I was typing....

Hi,

In that case I would strongly advise you to contact the Dutch Embassy and specifically ask what the rules are.

There are laws concerning Pit Bull's and Staffordshire Bull Terrier's, but I'm not entirely sure when these take effect (IANAL).

Hope this helps.
