accessing SAMBA share from windows.
 

Normally, accessing my SAMBA share is easy.
However, I'm trying to remotely access the SAMBA share using a windows computer, forced to use IE6.

Normally, this would not be a problem either. However, I am using a very strictly limited account.

I would like to know how I can access my SAMBA share using IE6, and copy files over to it (the SAMBA share, that is).

I've tried using HTTP, FTP and TELNET.
HTTP returns 404.
FTP asks for username and password but does not accept them. (Anonymous login has no write priviliges, so that's not an option)
TELNET just hangs for a while then closes.

I have the SAMBA ports opened in the firewall and the SAMBA ports are in the NAT.
I've tried google but found nothing that really helps.

So I thought I'd try here.

why don't you have the target computer booted into linux and just use ssh?

ie. you are going to need a ms client that will allow ssh at your guest end and your linux has a correct sshd config file and a firewall that either directly allows connections to the ssh port (say) port 22 or a firewall that has port forwarding?

The target computer is running Linux. (I think I missed that point, silly me.)
The reason I can't use ssh is because the machines I have access to at school are Windows.

(But I wouldn't be able to run any other software (other than what's already installed) on the WinXP box. (I'm not admin of that particular network.))
