About ffmpeg pad filter option

Does anyone how this new pad filter works. It replaced padtop and the padbottom option.

-vf pad W:H:x:y

I understand the W:H coordinates, but the x:y is still uncleared. I google this but there is not much info on this pad filter. Any hints will help.

thanks in advance

I guess this new pad filter from ffmpeg is confusing not just to me only. Oh well, I guess I have to go with what I find and experiment with the x:y offsets and see the results.

- cheers

I don't like these new options, because they are confusing.

Thanks Tex for the reply

I already saw that site when googling but it's still fuzzy to me

Right now I am experimenting with x:y coordinates. I am beginning to grasp it just a little bit, but not there yet.

The new ffmpeg broke the tovid package, a suite of tools to create DVDs. But, I fixed this by upgrading tovid to 0.34. This version uses the new pad filter of ffmpeg.
