Is this better? Like everyone I know that runs windows, changing drivers (like video drivers for some games) let me quote my bro here:
After having loaded a ton of game demos onto my home copy of Windows (2nd of three operating systems on my Dell) I had thoroughly screwed up the OS. I had installed new display drivers so the OS wouldn't hang when playing games, but it seemed like they were hosing up my MovieLink playbacks (which wasn't the case). So I uninstalled the video drivers entirely and re installed the original ones off of the CD. That not only didn't solve the problem but created a WEIRD and very disturbing effect with the mouse motion across the screen. Combined with a massively fragmented drive, periodic hangs, and boot that took FOREVER, I thought it was time. So I took out one of my pre prepared OS partitions and gambled that I could leave my data and two other OS partitions intact and only blast and replace the middle OS. It worked! I can now blast and replace Windows at will without moving all of my data!!! Making doz work right takes a lot of work. But it can be done, I never said it couldn't. As to colors, I kinda thought that's why they invented color monitors. If colors are such a problem, what do you do in spring as you walk near gardens?
my defense:
doom3 and half life 2 will not work under linux and they look like 2 bloody fantastic games. if i did not already own a copy of windows i would go out and buy 1 to run them games (even though they not out yet i have seen the 600 meg demo of hl2 and played the doom3 demo)

Doom 3 will work on Linux - id Software writes their games for both Windows and Linux and IIRC they will do the same for Doom 3.

OMG, well then, thats 1 reason less to for windows.
i wonder if the game will play as well though!
Did any of you, while using xp, try to shut the thing down and get a message stating that THE HIDDEN FAX WINDOW CANNOT BE CLOSED.? haha, I didnt know whether to laugh or cry. So, I go and push the END NOW button hoping that the program would indeed, end now. "Nay," says XP, "Yer not gonna end any task until I feel like!"
Ho k. cntrl-alt-del time... Bam, the task manager pops up, yes there it is, the END TASK is not responding! Lets have fun and end it again! "Nay," says XP, "I told ya yer not shutin nothin down!" Riiiiiight, the task manager has stopped responding. How is that for irony? So i have two task managers not responding, the mouse moves an inch every minute and the hard disk is going nuts, like the universe is ending and it needs its last fix of data-reading. I was thinking, "Hm, xp is trying to commit suicide i think..." (or maybe its just retarded)
Im thinking, Ok... its time for the big guns... RESET! wait 2 minutes later...
Welcome to Windows XP!
Right, here we go all over again, until the next mental episode it has.....
Windows has a half-life. Im sure of it. When you reach a certain time, the probably of it becoming retarded increases exponentially. Whether its becaues of hidden programs, or the way it was coded, it doesnt matter. It happens none-the less.
Native applications do quite well, because there is no vague posix layer emulation kind of thing like Wine (or something similar) that reacts on closed-source code. Thus a natively coded DOOM 3 game will play even better on Linux.
