Did you know that that DVD is not encrypted with the Super Secret CSS encoding that the RIAA gets pissed off if you decode? That way, you can watch it in linux with a clear conscious. Also, you can display that movie to LUGS (Linux User Groups) without paying any special fees or worrying about lawsuits.

Moved: Non-technical questions regarding Linux belong and are more suitable in General, not Linux - General. Regards.

A lot of General posts start their lives in Linux General. Maybe this means different names need to be used to minimize the effects of absent mindedness and ignorance.

Anyway, I haven't seen any movies in this series yet. Maybe I should.

Maybe they should just read the descriptions. General is for non-technical discussions, off topic, etc.

Linux - General is reserved mainly for sole Linux discussions that are mainly technical and or asking technical questions or if you feel your question doesn't belong in any other "Linux" forum that we have. Except a few on occasion like the screenshot thread, etc, which do get technical along the way we allow in Linux - General.

Talking about a movie isn't technical and doesn't belong in Linux - General, that is one reason its been moved and it shouldn't be rocket science to determine that.. no pun intended to the thread starter.

Regards.

I would almost agree. Maybe General should have a name of "Off-Topic" or something else other than General. While General has been good in the past, it seems that lately nobody knows where to put their threads.

I would however wish that new members (and even old ones) would learn to read before they start a new thread in the wrong forum

Peace,
Whitehat

For those who don't notice the different forum descriptions here they are and should be pretty obvious on what not to place and what to place in each forum:

General:

"This forum is for non-technical general discussion which can include both Linux and non-Linux topics. Have fun!"

Linux - General:

"This forum is for General Linux Questions.
If it is Linux Related and doesn't seem to fit in any other forum then this is the place"

Notice the keyword in the General description "non-technical" ?

There is also a sticky in Linux - General covering this topic. Though its funny how members ask for particular stickies but then yet fail to read them..

Cheers.

If this statement is directed to me for explaining a bit about our forums and to place threads, etc, then I would expect if said in different manners please as this was moved for the reasons stated above and by our rules for the site. I would watch how or what you say if a moderator is explaining rules to others. I will be "anal" since someone didn't place the thread in the most proper forum.

Now lets get on with the topic. Anyone feel that this thread doesn't belong in General, feel free to email me privately.

Regards.

HP gave DVDs of this away for free a couple of years ago. If you're familiar with the GNU/Linux/OSS story, there is nothing new here. It is entertaining and it's good to put voices/faces with the names we all know and love.

PS - My local LUG has RMS speaking next week! Talk about entertaining. That should be pretty cool.

I agree 100%. I was simply meaning for the idiots. Then again, I don't think we should cater to the fools who can't put stuff in the right forum

While I know we have all made mistakes sometimes....the amount of threads that are put in the wrong forum are amazing.

Peace,
Whitehat

Anyway, this documentary is really cool if your a big Linux geek. I bought it a few months ago and I sat my friend down and made him watch it. He is now convinced that open-source is the future of computers.

muhahahahahahahaha
