a great read on MS and Linux and the future of things to come

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4508897.stm

check that out. for once a real news media is publishing some hard FACTS and taking some good hits at MS while at the same time showing some good insight on what could/might happen.

Yup, I saw that on OSNews.com earlier. Read it, liked it, linked to it on my blog. Definitely worth the read :)

Part 2: How Microsoft plans to beat its rivals

Get it while it's hot :)

Part II = FUD...

M$ can't beat Linux,... only push off the enivitable...

I feel part 2 to be very pro-MS compared to the first part. It's almost like the author suddenly switches sides.

Megamieuwsel 05-13-2005 06:30 AM

Hmmm....
I didn't really get that feeling.
The second part felt more like it was written in the style of "And this is how they think about it at MiicroSoft."
Not like it was the author's personal view.
But then again : I could be off by a mile or some...

Firn 05-13-2005 07:18 AM

meh, could be me as well ;)

I think the author was just trying to give both sides of the story. I agree that part 2 had more of an MS slant, but you could have guessed that from the titles:

Part 1: The assault on software giant Microsoft
Part 2: How Microsoft plans to beat its rivals

And I think MS might just have a chance of winning if they take the consumer electronics market. Not because their technology is good, but if they can force it into every device we own and make us dependent on Windows, it would be pretty hard to shake them loose.

Now, I don't think that will happen, but that is MS's current strategy.
