A Clockwork Orange
Great book/movie here...the first seems to deal more with freedom than the latter, which centers on dehumanization. I have heard that the book is one of Burgess' worst, and though I haven't read anything else by him, I thought it was very original, funny, and wielded a terrifying message. Anway, here's what I thought of it:
Homeless Drunkard- Incarnation of Alex Beethoven- The Human Spirit Prison Charlie- Freedom (not much of a stretch there :)) Alex- Everyone...I don't think that was the message Burgess had in mind, but the way Kubrick used Beethoven to transplant Alex's brutal dynamo into us while he beat/raped/murdered people was just plain genius...towards the end, we were iin no condition to condemn Alex, as we experienced everything he did when he committed those crimes. Anywho, that was what I made of it, I'd like to hear your opinions on that flick. If you haven't seen it/read it, I recommend you do so (preferrably with a droogy)! Later... |
good british book, awful american film.

(Me an' my droogs eyeballed that reelie many weeks before. Plenty of claret nice n'all)
Did you know that a spate of copy-cat violence sparked it being banned? It was only really re-released in the UK when Kubrick died. I reckon that means the film was actually quite good. |
interesting!...From what I heard, he was also recieving a lot of death threats because of it...

even if Disney was stolen from the brothers Grimm Q*Bert |
LOL
Sorry, I can't help it. One of my first responses when I saw Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels was, "it was great seeing shitty East London. Those Brits always like to moan and moan about how much the cities in the US are falling apart, when thier own backyard looks like crap" Thing is, Europeans are always anti-american, so I like mocking them by acting the same way. So I say with pride... Those damn brits! |
Everything Disney was stolen from German fairy tales. What a cheap bastard

Even Micky mouse? I feel like my whole life is a lie...
