What was most interesting to me and New York Times is full of stories about it today is that Trump played the Press like an accordion in the "pre-speech press conference" in which Presidents customarily tell the Press what their speech is going to contain. He made more-explicit references, for example, to immigration policy and suggested to his speechwriter aide that maybe it should be included in the address. It wasn't. (But apparently someone snapped-off an editorial which said that it was.)

He isn't giving the press or anyone an inside picture of his thoughts, and those thoughts are turning out to be anything but simple.

He is far, far more shrewd at managing his public image and of controlling the behavior of the Press than was any President before him which should come as no surprise given that he is and always has been a very high-profile businessman. But, the Press still doesn't "get it."

And then the "tweets." Entirely co-opting and end-running the media as a way to get messages out, directly.

As I've said before "what if this man ... succeeds?"

Public perception is very, very fickle. A devil can turn into a god and back again.

Could it be that this man ... transforms the Office that he now holds?
Well as I keep beating the drum about the dems, which in my opinion are dead I hope Trump succeeds. Again, I see no reason in the mid-terms and 2020 elections for me to lift a finger to help the dems, and I am seriously considering voting for Trump for a second turn (maybe too early to say that), but I have seen nothing from the dems to justify me switching my views.

Jeebizz, pretty-please stop posting things that are nothing more than a link to someone else's web page. Unless you have a comment of your own to add to the discussion, I can "Google it™" myself.

Especially, please, when these are links to videos that do not have transcripts. I don't have fifteen minutes in my day set-aside to "listen to this guy (whoever he may be) talk."

"C'mon ... really?!"

Since when, "anytime in the past nearly 250 years [in this country]," has any political party seriously "felt defeated(!)" by any "speech?"

"C'mon ... don't you know what this game is?" "Defeated?" Really? "Why, you wuss!" C'mon, play the game! C'mon! Get up!

After all . . . "tomorrow is another day!"

Quite frankly, I think that it's time that we start to come to grips with the fact that "this is not, in fact, TEOTWAWKI.™"

Even though the present President may well prove to be "a game-changer" with respect to such things as "the relationship between the Executive and the Legislative Branches" ... and even though the public apparently did, indeed, purposely(!) call for(!!) precisely such a "game-change" ...

... the institution, itself, "is venerable."

"Yes, I am quite sure now, after almost 250 years, it's not gonna disappear ... at least, not right away."

None of the players in this game are actually going to "throw it under the bus," even as they struggle to come to terms with this latest Chief Executive ... who (perhaps for the first time in the history of this Office) actually happens to possess considerable experience in the role of CEO.

Because: "we are talking about the country, and countries are considerably more important than politics!"

Therefore, let us all sternly remember this: "life goes on," and, "tomorrow is another day!"

Well they aren't even trying. Again, they even elected Tom Perez as the chair and are going for the same strategy. The only thing they have is the whole 'Trump is bad' schtick that is weak, tiresome and useless just like they are. The party is essentially fractured, I would have at least considered voting for them if Sam Ronan were elected chairman, but nope gotta stick with established corporate shills - screw any real progressives.

All the dems hope is that Trump will fsck up so badly that they will have 'a turn' come midterms and 2020, and are actively just throwing any roadblocks they can no matter how underhanded.

So screw them, they can rot for all I care - again I am not going to lift a finger to help them now, quite the opposite I will now do what I can to keep the reps. in power in midterms and in 2020, maybe then the dems might get their heads out of their ass and grow a pair, ditch corporate donors and dare I say actually look towards progressives, but nah, not gonna happen. Maybe they can beat Trump with $3 billion.......pfff, pathetic!

Scuffles, fistfights erupt as pro and anti-Trump rallies clash in Berkeley

Clashes between opposing political camps erupted in Berkeley, California, as Trump supporters and opponents squared off under the watchful eye of police in riot gear.

People participating in the "March 4 Trump" demonstration, to show support for President Donald Trump, were met by a "By Any Means Necessary" counter-demonstration group in downtown Berkeley on Saturday afternoon.

Trump asks Congress to establish whether Obama administration abused investigative powers in 2016

The White House has asked the US Congress to investigate alleged abuse of executive power by the Obama administration as part of the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the presidential election.

The White House request released on Sunday was directed to “congressional intelligence committees” and required them to “exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016.”

Sorry since I keep spamming all this, but it is clear to see however just how desperate the anti-Trump groups are at this point. I haven't lived through watergate (because I wasn't even born that decade), but from what I have studied about Watergate and what I see now, damn this really does take the cake. What I see however that this is only going backfire even more.

The Russia hack narrative has clearly not worked, so this is a new level of desperation here. I am afraid to ask just how low they can go, because I wouldn't put it past them (them = holdovers from Obama in different agencies). This is like throwing everything against the proverbial wall in hopes that something will stick.

Hate to bust your bubble, son, but it was the Republicans (e.g. Jeff Sessions) who were denying and concealing Russian contacts during the campaign, not the Democrats making stuff up. Why would Sessions lie at his confirmation and then deny?

Right now everyone is busting everyone's bubble. I don't particularly like Sessions or care for him, but when dems are also confronted with Russian ties they 'forget'. I.E. Pelosi never met with any Russians http://hotair.com/archives/2017/03/0...an-ambassador/ - so what I see here is that the dems are trying to deflect anything about Russia on them and go for Trump.

Again I feel I also have to state that I am not outright defending Trump, I didn't vote for him - but from what I see here is a really weird case of back-and-forth between both parties of 'he said' 'she said'.

Sessions did recuse himself, which is at least more than what any of the dems did (well, maybe Pelosi could be suffering from early onset of Alzheimer's), still point being I see no 'smoking' gun that the dems or any of the inside the intelligence agencies to try to take Trump down. I am sure they will have other tricks up their sleeves if this does not stick, which I doubt it will.

I guess there is a reason why he is the 2nd 'Teflon Don'. (First was Gotti )

Either way, I am kinda enjoying this shitshow - I have never been so captivated and entertained by all this - who says politics is boring?
