'turmoil'? == the essence of: 'SWAMP going down the drain'!

The 'essence' of a SWAMP ->going down the drain<- is *turmoil*! For the swamp anyway.

Quite honestly, although I did not vote for this man and never would have, I am gradually coming to the point where – although I disagree with nearly everything he is doing – I nonetheless find that I must respect him.

Why? Because he is a change agent.

He isn't a fascist. He isn't (and isn't going to turn into ...) a dictator. But he is going to challenge just about everything within his reach, and in so doing he is going to bring change. Even if he does not succeed in bringing change to any particular thing, he represents a fundamental change in attitude.

Right now, his moves are being reacted-to by (quite understandable) fear. But, the first reaction to change is always "fear and loathing."

"Like it or not, the US President rules by persuasion." Can he persuade people who are neither his "rabid supporters" nor his "rabid opponents" to ... change?

Donald Trump has already etched his name into the history-books as a President who is totally unlike every single Officeholder who has preceded him throughout this nation's history.

I sometimes wonder how the original Founders, and their contemporaries, would have regarded him. When I read their writings, I surmise that they were a very contentious lot, but also very learned. They authored a brand-new nation but were not entirely satisfied with what they had done.

Red face Trump 2020 - Deal with it, and blame the DNC.

I was tempted to make another thread, but we got too many political threads (mostly my fault). Anyways, this is relevant though so I guess I'll post it in this thread. The DNC has pretty much assured 8 years of Trump.

DNC votes to roll back Obama ban against corporate lobby donations

The Democratic National Committee has enraged social media users following a vote against a ban on corporate political action committee donations, rousing sentiment that the party has not learned from Hillary Clinton’s crushing defeat to Donald Trump.
Good idea, more money that will definitely assure victory because it worked so well last time.

Well at this point, maybe the title of this thread should be 'Did the DNC just assure us 8 years of Trump?'

So, as stated/shown earlier Tom Perez is the chair of the DNC, corporate donor money is assured, because it worked so well last time - Clinton overspent Trump - and lost badly, not just badly, with egg on face and all.

Meanwhile since the dems want to 'move past' these issues, not address why they lost because anyone who brings that up is divisive, and what is needed right now is unity. Yea, Ronan did not get any votes, he was the sane one that should have clearly been chair of the DNC, but nah Perez will do - the Clinton/Obama insider. I realise that now I am quickly doing what the MSM did with Trump, outright discounting the dems, but it is justified. Look at them, their so-called 'resistance' is not there, they either remain mum on any of Trump's appointees or actually side with them anyways. Yea, great resistance there

I seriously want to know - just how the dems will win the midterms let alone the 2020 elections, because I sure as hell am not voting for them. I am even more tempted now to vote for Trump and lock out the dems, because of their outright refusal to put any real progressives there.

2TERM? [I maybe naive, but I saw] half cheering hope & half GHOSTS! "Different?"!

I may be totally naive (&mostly 'a-political'), but watching 'it' tonite, I see/hear:
[at worse]: no worse than PAST politicians' 'rhetoric' [of questionable truth]
[at best ]: a great & *in-progress* [&WILL-be-DONE] hopeful, realistic future.

Even [liberal/Dem] PBS began their review with: "Different...!"
(then went -searching- for neg.; CNN for 'deficiencies' )

The left side, Rep., was alive & cheering with HOPE;
the right side, Dem., looked like GHOSTS (wore white!), in hopeLESS, NOthingness SILENCE.

-Just a **naive** -impression-, ForWhatIt'sWorth (0 ok).

The problem is the DNC picked Tom Perez as DNC chair, they have no coherent message or plan to win the mid-terms or the elections in 2020, and so I see no reason to not vote for Trump at that point, why should I even lift a finger to help the dems, when they clearly had shady goings on to get Hillary as a candidate and lose so badly (electoral college), just sayin`.

I'll vote for Trump to spite the dems since they refuse to learn from their own mistakes.

He kept pretty close to the expected modicum of a President giving a speech to a joint session of Congress, including referring to people in the audience and stacking that audience with people who were widows, sick or injured. All good feel-good food.

What was most interesting to me – and New York Times is full of stories about it today – is that Trump played the Press like an accordion in the "pre-speech press conference" in which Presidents customarily tell the Press what their speech is going to contain. He made more-explicit references, for example, to immigration policy and suggested to his speechwriter aide that maybe it should be included in the address. It wasn't. (But apparently someone snapped-off an editorial which said that it was.)

He isn't giving the press – or anyone – an inside picture of his thoughts, and those thoughts are turning out to be anything but simple.

He is far, far more shrewd at managing his public image and of controlling the behavior of the Press than was any President before him – which should come as no surprise given that he is and always has been a very high-profile businessman. But, the Press still doesn't "get it."

And then – the "tweets." Entirely co-opting and end-running the media as a way to get messages out, directly.

As I've said before – "what if this man ... succeeds?"

Public perception is very, very fickle. A devil can turn into a god and back again.

Could it be that this man ... transforms the Office that he now holds?
