[US politics] [unfortunately concerns us all] Censorship - Alternative Data

I just stumbled upon this:
https://politics.stackexchange.com/a/14702
Quote:
Trump and his aides could not stand any information that did not suit them, and engaged in claims that his inauguration had more attendance than Obama's (including attacks to the press that reported otherwise). Even when other data (number of metro rides that day) debunked that claim, they pressed their own claim, to the point of talking about alternative data.

Now, the issue of how many people there were is minor in itself, but the way Trump administration has reacted is worrysome: deny the data they do not want, make a major issue of a point without importance, attack anyone who produces information they do not like, and invent "alternative data".

It is not the only incident of this type Trump has protagonized, so it has lead to doubts about his personality. If this is how he reacts to bad data about the public attendance to his inauguration... what should the public expect from him if economic, intelligence, etc. data does not paint the picture that Trumps wants to see?
Also the rest of the discussion is interesting, so click the link!

I wonder what the "Lesser of two Evils" folks say now...

Of far more interest to me:
  1. Now that you have the job, why do you really care so much about how many people were standing in the cold?
  2. Can't you rein-in your press/Tweet minions?
If you have gotten the job, your #1 concern right now ought to be to avoid getting fired within the first two weeks.

Pretty soon you will see Trump continue the crusade against whistle blowers, and so now the democrats pretty much like wikileaks, and the republicans won't. typical political bullshit, like or hate something when it suites you.

Perhap I have misinterpreted your thread, but from what I gathered Trump will try to clamp down on any sort of information that is negative against him, even if the source is reliable and the information happens to be correct. Now the democrats are suddenly encouraging any whistle blowers to release anything that might get him thrown out of office. Yet during Obama's term, they were either mum on the issue or very anti wikileaks - they have clearly changed their minds.

I see the same thing for republicans, after the DNC hack, they liked the whistle blowers and wikileaks, and I see that they will change their position on that as well once negative information is released or any information released about Trump. So it is a back-and-forth.

yes, it's the good ol' boxing match that is called democracy in your country (no disrespect to whistleblowsers, democrats, wikileaks or Jeebizz intended).
i'm not so interested in that game - rather in what is actually really happening.
and what i see is getting worse every day.

I encourage the opposite, neither party deserves any respect especially the democrats now because of their 'I am better than you' high horse. I have posted many a link on other threads that clearly show how out of touch the dems. are and outright refusal for any sel-reflection of WHY they lost horribly last election. It is anyone else's fault but theirs.

Right now the dems. have the most stench and filth because of all the corporate entities that have infiltrated that party - and the out of touch celebrities that made that dumb public whining about how the electoral voters should vote against Trump, with no actual valid argument.

If Trump wants to keep his job ... to not go down on record as the shortest Presidential term in US history ... he's going to have to get a whole lot smarter about his public relations, and get a better understanding of what his "executive order" pen can and cannot do; should and should not do. (And Congress is going to have to start getting its hands dirty, too: law-making is their job.)

Yes, you can be fired for "being an unredeemable a*shole in public conduct unbecoming a President." We'll think of some "misdemeanor" that will do, if you prove to be too much of an embarrassment to the rest of us. Plenty of people (present company not included ...) would genuinely like to see him succeed. However, if it turns out that we've merely let loose a bull in our china-shop, who can't reasonably-quickly figure out how to do the job after all, then we'll finally move to protect the breakable things. He'll be escorted out the door after turning in his badge.

He above all people should know that "you can get fired from any job." Far more than 350 million people can be very-directly affected by anything that this Officeholder does. "That should give you pause," but maybe in this man's case it simply doesn't.

(Also: he should also have the savvy to understand that right now he is being 'played' by yes-men who surround him. But again, maybe he doesn't.)

Updated | Republican lobbyist Jack Burkman is offering $100,000 for information into the unsolved killing of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich. The 27-year-old was gunned down while walking home from a Washington, D.C., bar in the early hours of July 10. Right-wing conspiracy theorists later suggested DNC officials were behind it and that Rich played a role in leaking party emails.
It is theorised that the robbery was just a cover, and yes it does sound like a conspiracy theory - however given revelations about the dems and reps. - in a way you cannot simply outright dismiss it as just a conspiracy theory.

Also, this is out of some kind of movie and one would obviously expect this even now in say the Russian Federation or other type of authoritarian state - but the fact that it is HERE in the US , it is just surreal.

WIKILEAKS SETH RICH TWEET: WikiLeaks Tweets About DNC Staffer Seth Rich. Trump Meets Tulsi Gabbard
REWARD FOR SETH RICH MURDER INFORMATION NOW $130,000: WikiLeaks Again Tweets About Seth Rich

Now again remember, the dems are TURNING to wikileaks now for any information that may be used AGAINST Trump - which just shows how two-faced scum that they are, as are the reps:

DEMOCRATS NOW LOVE JULIAN ASSANGE AND WHISTLEBLOWERS: Democrats Ask Whistleblowers To Impeach Trump

Remember all of the sudden now THEY like wikileaks because of the revelations of the emails from DNC.

I already have grey hair - my dad was turning grey in his late 20s, as was I (now in my mid 30s) - *shrug*.

I am not bitter, but yes I do have a hard time letting go depending on what issue it is. This is one of them, the blatant political move now of the dems. with whistle blowing - suddenly like them 'because its cool' - yea well I liked wikileaks before it was cool - no matter who was in office - this is just a convenient tool for political gain that is all - thats what is grinding my gears.

I never do anything lately anymore because it is cool. I am more of a pragmatic sort of person.

If it is fun. I am game for it. If not. I look away.

I don't like where things are heading. Mom told me to watch my back. She has witnessed this kind of stuff before. I know I sound like a 12 year old with Mom this and Mom that.

But I know wisdom when I hear it.

Things are getting dark in Mordor. I am too old to fight dragons anymore. I leave it to the younger folks to change things. Wishing them luck in my head. My younger relatives have picked up the lance. Their significant others back them. I worry for their welfare while cheering them on.

They are kind souls who won't hurt a fly. Unlike the world that hates those that point out injustice and wish to bring light to those that need it.

I warn them also to keep their head down. But like young bucks. They don't listen.
Kinda like you.
