Quantum computers all involve weird states of matter that cannot exist outside a laboratory. No doubt in the future, governments will use them to spy on us more efficiently, but they'll never be feasible as ordinary desktop machines.

i have heard that before, what i think is that we can imagine tech that is 20ish years away but what we dont understand is what kind of tech is awaiting us(consumers) century in the future.
