yum - rpm


Wich are the differents about using rpm ... or yum ... ?
I'm a new user of linux, but I've forever use rpm.

rpm is designed to install packages you specify which often leaves you to figure out which dependencies you also need to install. This can be quite maddening.

yum on the other hand will install the package you specify AND the dependencies packages automatically. You can also use yum to do a full update of all installed packages to later revisions.
