Updated FC1 Kernel doesn't support usb...
Hi all. I recently updated my Fedora Core Kernel from version 2.4 to 2.6 so i could get usb2.0 availability. After a successful install, i rebooted my system and got a message about new hardware (my wireless usb mouse). I chose to keep the current configuration and not update it. When booting, the kernel spits a bunch of error messages at me, saying that it can't load anything usb, all of which ran fine in version 2.4, my original ports and it can't load my 2.0 card. I'm definetely a newbie and any help is greatly appreciated .

i downloaded linux-2.6.0.tar.bz2 from www.kernel.org and followed a walkthru that was in a post in these forums. The walkthru was very thorough and everything went off without a hitch. The weird part is, when i used 'makeconfig' to configure the new kernel, i didn't change any of the usb options or anything, i didn't make any new modules. I changed around options to give the kernel read-only access to ntfs drives and that worked fine.

Hmmm, do you remember if the usb support is in the kernel or as a module?

usb support was already enabled as a module, i didn't have to change any settings for that. i tried booting up w/ the old kernel, version 2.4 and when booting up it detected all my ports and my 2.0 pci card fine, no errors at all but i didn't have any mouse support once i got to the login.

I'm pretty confused, since I don't know 2.6 very well and I don't know if your pci card must be treated differently than a regular usb controller.
However, in your bootup logs, do you have any error messages?
