Trying to install Fedora Core 3 - CD troubles

Hi All,

I've already successfully installed FC3 on an older PC but wanted to install it on a DELL Optiplex which has no built in CD drive or floppy. Now I've hooked up external USB floppy and CD drives but the bios only allows me to boot from the floppy - no CD option is available.

The problem I have is that there doesn't appear to be any boot floppy image available which would enable me to initially boot from the floppy and then have it recognize the CD drive so I can complete the install.

Does naybody know a way around this?

Incidentally, I tried installing RH8.0 the same way (ie. using boot floppy then CDs) and it appeared to work except, once fully installed, RH8 doesn't seem to like the SATA hard disk in the DELL. I only tried this because I figured if I installed RH8 first, then I could "update" to FC3 without worrying about the boot floppy.

Thanks,
Nick

you will need to setup a boot/install floppy for the redhat, there are instructions on howto do this on the disks and their website.
