Sound on nForce 4 - Fedora Core 4

I installed FC4 (i386 version) on a Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9, and when I tried to watch a DVD film on xine, the sound came from wrong speakers. I tried to detect the soundcard, but it didn't work. I wanted to use alsaconf, but it appears that this tool isn't available on FC.

So I downloaded the nForce4 drivers from nvidia site, and installed the official nvidia oss driver for linux, but the result was the same.

This is how my sound is behaving: the left/right front speakers and subwoofer works ok, the dialogs (center channel) came from the left rear speaker, and the left/right rear sound was muted.

Forgot to mention, my soundcard has 7.1 support, but as I own a 5.1 speaker set, I adjusted the nvmixer to work with the 5.1 speaker configuration.

Any hints?
