Fedora 3 is quite old. SATA disks are a newer tech, and it wouldn't be surprising that Fedora 3 might not have those drivers. You might have better luck with Fedora 6, or Fedora 7 (which is due to be released soon). If you are new to linux Fedoar is a good choice, you might want to think about Ubuntu too, it's my current favorite. Unless you have very old hardware, you should try to use the most current stable version available.
