Package not finishing installs

I have just installed Fedora 1 on my wife's old Celeron 600...I wasn't sure if it would be able to handle it or not but I made sure that 256mb of RAM were available for it to somewhat work ok...Anyways, I have run across many issues with trying to install packages and having them freeze in the middle of installing...Are my system specs adequate enough for this install? If the specs are adequate is there any quick fix that I can apply to it?..If there isn't a fix for it and my system is adequate then I might have to assume that some of the memory I put in is going bad. Anyone have any other ideas?...I want to go ahead and update my xmms install to play mp3's but it says I don't have the "xmms" package installed? what?(I checked and the Package Management app says it is installed. I also know because I opened up xmms) Any help would be appreciated.

Fedora core 1 does not come with mp3 support in XMMS or any app for that matter, legal reasons. Do a search for that problem and you can find a link to the rpms to fix it.

What do you mean freezing in the middle of installing a package? AKA Rpms? I think I had the same problem, it does the little slider bar across a few time, and then it just stops at the end and the program hangs? I had that happen many times, I was forced to reboot to get it to run again. Perhaping using the 'rpm' command in the terminal for it may work. Try that. I do not know the exact syntax for it though, sorry.
