just installed Fedora7, all was great until updating and rebooting

I just installed Fedora 7 last night, everything seemed great until I downloaded updates and rebooted. Now I get kernel panic, at which point it tries to reboot again. I have been using F6 with no real issues other than my lack of experience. I am new to linux... please assume I know nothing.

If the Fedora 7 DVD has a system recovery option, use it. Otherwise I think it will be easiest for you to reinstall Fedora 7, and not download the updates next time. I had a similar issue last week when I updated my opensuse 10.2 to use the 10.3 beta releases of kde 3.5.x. My system got broken and the fastest thing was to reinstall (keep home partition, format root partition).
