just flashing cursor on boot
Hi,
i had win xp and suse9.1 32 bit in dual boot with the win xp bootloader on my pc (amd athlon 64). everything worked fine. then i wanted to have fedora 3 64bit version, so i downloaded it and put it on a dvd. in the installation i chose to replace old linux versions, so it had the partitions ext (100 mb /boot, on /sda3), on lvm (1000mb swap, ext over 9gb) and my other win xp partitions (on sda1). i did not instal grub, cuz i wanted to use the win xp bootloader again. the installation went fine. after that i booted in linux resuce mode to do "dd if=/mnt/sda3 of=/bootsec.lin bs=512 count=1" and copied the bootsec.lin file to a disk. in windows i did then all the stuff for the bootloader with that file. when i try now to boot fedora (it is displayed by the win bootloader) i just get a flashing cursor. i tried different installations with different partition settings: try to boot with my suse dvd (aport installation and choose "boot system" and then "/sda3") or tried to have one big ext partition (still as /sda3) and one swap even when i installed grub i just get "GRUB" with a blinking cursor. hope anyone can helpt me and thx a lot |
