Is it possible to install Fedora Core 2 from FTP?
4 CDs is a rather massive download for me, since my ISP charges for bandwidth exceeding 7GB/month... Since I won't use all the packages in the cds, I'd like to know if there is a way to download only CD 1, or another bootable disk, and download the packages I need during the installation, from a FTP server...

I beleive that it is possible to complete an ftp install of Fedora Core 2, but I just want to let you know that this is type of install has a higher chance of failure (due to elements that are out of your control), but if this is want you want to try, I wish you the best of look.
Here is a site that discuss the process with Core 1: http://vishalshah.org/node/view/81 I am sure that with a little bit of foot work you can work out any diffrences between a core 1 and a core 2 install. |
It is 100% possible. First download this 4mb file and burn it to a cd
ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/...mages/boot.iso Then boot with the cd in and choose ftp install then you will need to tell the ftp site. use this Mirror ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de Directory pub/Mirrors/fedora.redhat.com/linux/core/2/i386/os/ |
