Hello ALL...

I had succesfully downloaded iso images and burned Fedora core 4 CDs, SHA1 checksum was also matched. But when I start to boot frm CD 1, after asking to install in GUI or text mode, setup program hangs ... with some "Kernel-panic mode" text.

As a solution, I go with "linux noprobe" option, then installation goes fine. Anyone can tell me why this happened ? Thnks.....

More than likely it is a hardware issue. Meaning the installer cannot or is thinking the hardware is something else. So after the install did everything work well? Most installs of FC I install I end up using the noprobe option. Then after install I configure the hardware or actually on the first boot kudzu ends up doing most of the work. You would think they would include more hardware detection on the cd, it's not the old floppy install. Most hardware it detects is a small list of what most linux distros are capable of. Once the system is installed kudzu takes over on bootup to find hardware and configure it.

Im trying to install FC4 on a 1.9ghz p4 that I put together from old parts. The installation hangs at the probing video card notice. So I'll try noprobe tonight. I'm guessing that you mean at the installation option console type "linux noprobe". Thanks
