install fedora7 on Vista machine

I have a HP a6200n that comes with vista. I used Vista utility to create a partition L on C drive and formatted it in NTFS. When I try to install Fedora 7 it would not recognize the L drive and insist on installing on the C drive. How can I get around this? Thanks

Hello cch2cch,

You get around that by not creating an NTFS partition for Fedora as you did. Instead create unpartitioned space for Fedora by either shrinking or deleting an existing partition using your built-in Vista partition manager. During the installation of Fedora, watch for and select the option Use free space on selected drives and create default layout. That will result in a system using Logical Volume Management (the Fedora default) being installed in the unpartitioned space. If you don't want to use LVM for your system, then select the option Create custom layout and create your partitions in the free (unpartitioned) space.

P.S.: If you don't know what Logical Volume Management means, then accept it for the simplicity of installation. You can learn about creating a custom partition layout later.
