Install Fedora Core 6 problem
Hi. When I try to install Fedora 6 from the DVD disk during the installation package is tell-
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error(-30977) from dbenv->open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database re error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - (-30977) DVD test has been successful. What could be the problem? |
Looks like it could be a memory issue - not enough of it. Try the text mode install and see how you go.

A format file system, and then begins installation package is normally 10% of, and then at the time of installation Perl-5.8.8-10.i386, you will begin to flee the caption
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery ... If placed on vmware is proceeding normally. It is my understanding the hardware, but I can not understand what exactly :-( ( |
I have two questions for you felk.
When you downloaded the DVD .iso image did you check the checksum against the one on the server. Did you allow the media check to proceed when you booted the install dvd. Also did you just burn the iso image file to the dvd or did you avturaally use a toll like k3b or roxio easy CD creator to burn the image. |

I'm starting to see an _awful_ lot of rpmdb errors crop up. I think there's something seriously wrong and its no wonder Fedora are trying to pull things together. All I can suggest is that you run a default install, dont bother with individual package selection and then if you manage to get a fully working system then add and remove packages from there. Other than that it might be a case of sticking with FC5 for the moment. Sorry I cant be of more help mate.
