install fc 4 on optiplex 280

I am attempting to install fc4 on a Dell Optiplex 280. It is already running WXP Professional. This box has a 160 gig SATA drive and 1.0 gig of RAM. The manufacturer says that there is an Express 915G chipset. I've dl'd the iso's and burned them on CD's. When I begin the install I get to the point where I need to partition the drive, the install cannot find the hard drive. I've tried this with several options only to get only to the same point and have to restart the install. The interesting thing is that I'm doing this on a box to practice installing it on our server which is running RH9 now. Before the support for RH9 was withdrawn, I tried the same thing on the same machine with identical results. I might add that the mediacheck and checksums were fine.

Anybody have any ideas?

You need to provide a driver disk for your harddrive controller, google or go to the manufacturer website to find linux drivers, once you have done that put them on floppy or usb disk. Re-start your fedora install, at the cdrom boot prompt type in 'linux dd' once Anaconda starts up it will ask you if you have any driver disks, this is the point where you slap that floppy in, tell Anaconda to look on fd0(default name) and it should then load your disk controller drivers, if you do not know how to create a driver disk: -> http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/fedora...-hardware.html

That should get you in the right direction. :-)
