How to customize a Fedora iso
 

Hi,

Can someone point me in the right direction to customize a Fedora iso?

I was hoping to create a Fedora iso for installation on multiple computers, but without some of the included rpms, or at least with a different default set of packages selected.

I've tried rebuilding the iso without the rpms I don't need and attempting install, but the installer tries to use one of the rpms I've removed and chokes on it ("The file ... cannot be opened. This is due to a missing file, a corrupt package or corrupt media...."). The installer won't proceed beyond that. The package it's complaining about is one of the font packages I don't need (vlgothic-fonts or vlgothic-fonts-common), but I imagine that if that package was not missing, it would have complained about one of the other packages I removed.

So it seems that the installer keeps its own list of packages independent of what packages are actually on the install disk. I looked into anaconda to see if there was a way to specify packages for an iso, but it does not seem to be the right tool for the job. Either that or my understanding of the tool's purpose is too limited.

Anyone got any ideas?

Really it would be better to be able to set the default package list so I wouldn't have to go through and re-specify the desired package list with each install.

It might be a bit out of date, but the "Remixing Fedora 7" link near the bottom of https://spins.fedoraproject.org/support seems to be the thing I am looking for. Thanks or the pointer!

Looks like the tool I am looking for is "revisor".

Unfortunately, the tool seems to want an install of the Fedora distribution you want to respin before it will let you respin it. That will still be easier than manually re-specifying the desired package list with each install though.
