Has anybody successfully made a bootable floppy diskette during installation?
Appologize, English is not my first language.
My primary system is windows xp, that's why i cannot install BRUB to MBR, doing so will ruin my windows boot manager. So I just choosed to install Grub to the first sector of sda3, and use floppy to boot. But no luck, it says the kernal is way to big for a floppy disk. I dont understand, does that mean nobody can create a floppy during installation? I've been using RH Linux from version 6, everytime i just created a bootable floppy in installation and boot the system up, and then let windows boot manager take over. But now, since i can not create bootable diskette, I can not even boot the system up. I thought it would be a way to use CD1 to boot, and enter my newly installed OS, but i dont know how. Any advice? Help!!!Please!!! |
Here is a link with instruction on how to use the XP's loader to boot linux.
I did the same thing, but I use lilo. These instructions are for grub. You may need to use your rescue system to get into linux initially. http://www.geocities.com/epark/linux...w2k-HOWTO.html |
Thank you for the link!
I used to stick to LILO too, but when i install Fedora, there is no such option allows me to choose LILO, only GRUB is available. Anyway, I found my own way. Since I never tried RESCURE mode before, I dont know how to enter my system using CD1. But after about 2 hours, finally I made it. Thank you! |
