Angry Getting multi-colour lines from top to bottom

NewB here...

For the first time ever, I just tried installing Linux on one of my PC's. It's a Dell OptiPlex GX150.

When I start installation with first disk, it seems like it has detected vido, but not the monitor. It then detected the mouse and tries to start a Windows like enviroment. I guess it's the installation enviroment, and it just hangs with a multi color screen of death.

help!

Try the FedoraCore list at fedora-list@redhat.com

You may get a better response there.

There is a text mode install also as an option. Try that too.

In case this information, helps you for now...........

I had the similar problem with my sony vaio. I installed fc3 in text mode and switch to graphical mode with startx after login to text mode. It works fine. However, if I try to boot to graphical mode, it end up with multicolor lines.

So I am usingn text -> startx -> graphical. I found some people who thinks that this is even a safer way to use all the time but could not explain why............
