FTP install help please
I have a laptop here which has no CD drive connected, and I want to install Fedora on it over an FTP connection. Since I can't get the laptop out to the internet (the FTP settings don't let me use proxies!), I'll transfer the images off a local PC.
I have a PC here with the ISO CD images of Fedora here, and I want this machine to be the FTP server where I keep the files. Will Fedora install over FTP with ISO images, or do I need to do something else with the files. Can somebody help? |
i think you need the ftp installation dirs which are on redhat ftp the one not in iso format
|
?
the red hat installation asks you for the FTP dir, but is sort of tricky about what it wants to hear
dont tell it RedHat (it knows that) dont tell it /var/ftp/pub (it cant know that) dont tell it pub/ (because it knows there a /) just tell tell it pub, and the install will start .. peculiar though it spent 3 hours installing the first % from and FTP server on my lan, so either its a laptop issue or maybe you could be on to something |
