Fedora8 on virtualbox, issues with networking

I have installed fedora8 as a guest OS(using Virtual box) on my host os (which is windows vista).
I am trying to communicate with my host os from fedora, with the "host interface networking" option available in Virtual box. But things are not working for me. I have clearly followed the procedural steps in the virtual box help document.
I am suspecting some issues with fedora n/w settings.
plz help.

Try using different settings like the NAT, Bridged and see if the problem persists.

Are you able to get out using Fedora? Meaning can you browse web pages.

If not, then try bridging the Vista LAN device with the Virtualbox host interface. Just highlight both interfaces, right click, and select "bridge" or "add to bridge". This will create a new interface, that will get ip via dhcp by default (can set static IP if you want). Then when you start Fedora via VBox, it should access your network through the host interface via the bridge.

Hope this helps.

Hi wildar,

Thanks for the reply.
I have created a virtual interface, added that to the bridge and everything went fine. I have added this virtual interface in the virtualbox network setttings of Fedora and started. But i couldn't see the new interface in the Fedora's list of interfaces.

I did the same with Ubuntu and is working fine. What's wrong with Fedora.
I have disabled Firewall and selinux in Fedora.

One more doubt is, how to assign static IPs?
