umm...it needs a disc? whut? I thought this was history when I put my windows aside...I mean, if you download the package and install it, how does it ask for the cd? or do you use some other installation method...some of Fedora's "own" ?

Now you have Fedora installed I would recommend using apt or yum to install anything else. If you are not comfortable with using a terminal and prefer a graphical interface for installing programs I would recommend the following. Assuming you have apt or yum or both installed bring up a terminal window and log on as super user (su) and root password. Type ' yum update' this will download the header files from the fedora servers detailing available packages. Then type in 'yum install synaptic' this will install the graphical interface for yum or apt. Once completed you can now use synaptic to install packages which enables you to browse available programs, upgrade programs and install new programs by typing in synaptic at the run command or from a terminal. You should then be able to find grip using synaptic. Hope this helps.

I think I was a little unclear. I have 3 ISO images on my windows drive (hdb1). Whenever I try to install something, it wants the real disc. I want to know if I can tell Fedora to read the ISO images instead of the real CD-ROM drive. Mounting the images doesn't work. BTW, where do you get yum or apt? I need it to install KDE 3.2.3 for Fedora.

Unsure if you can do as you are saying and install direct from an iso image using the windows partition. Why not just burn them to cd? If memory serves me correctly apt and yum are on the cd. If you can't find them you can download them from http://apt.freshrpms.net/ and http://linux.duke.edu/projects/yum/download.ptml. Hope this helps.

No, Fedora is already installed. I want to install additional software from the ISO images on the Windows partition. It wants the real disc. I used mandrake 10 before switching to Fedora and it had a utility for managing the medium. Does Fedora have a similar utility?
